SUMMARY

Cynthia has lived in Colorado for almost 20 years, during which she found her calling as a homebuilder and remodeler. It started as frustration with the available housing for the average resident being inadequate in style, spatial design and energy efficiency. Having studied sustainable building for the last 10 years, her personal goal is to make Fort Collins the most energy efficient and well-designed city in the world, one house at a time. Cynthia is currently working on her Masters degree in Construction Management with an emphasis in Sustainable Design. Focusing on a community approach to sustainable systems and construction practices, she aims to apply her research towards making tight, efficient, comfortable homes the norm.

EXPERIENCE

At CJR Homes, we believe that sustainable living should be within everyone’s reach. That’s why we offer an affordable approach to sustainable design and construction for home building and remodeling. Our designs harness solar techniques and emphasize the use of natural materials to eliminate toxins and improve indoor air quality. Our construction uses natural materials and reuses or recycles existing materials whenever possible. We believe you don’t have to build new to live sustainably. We pride ourselves in running efficient, well organized projects that turn existing houses into homes for the future.

CURRENT PROJECT

Smith Street Remodel
CJR Homes preserved the original historic structure while adding a master suite, a 9’ basement and significant living space that greatly improved the overall flow of the home. We incorporated passive solar and passive cooling design without increasing the building costs. As with every project, we designed and built this house for future adaptability, reused and recycled all materials possible, specified Energy Star rated appliances, and used insulated concrete forms for increased tightness. We cut the energy usage of the home by 50% while increasing the size by 100%. By using a whole house approach when designing your remodel or new home you can greatly decrease your operating expenses and your impact on the environment – all while living better than ever before.
